Response Selection

« Back to Glossary Index

Response selection is a neurocognitive process allowing the brain to choose the best options in response to a stimulus to solve complex tasks, overcome automatic responses, and make decisions. It’s an intentional/conscious choice of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to act, based on the context. Response selection depends on the number and compatibility of alternatives. Also see Response Tendency and Neurocognitive Systems
