Projector Synesthesia
« Back to Glossary IndexProjector synesthesia is a form of synesthesia in which a stimulus produces sensory experiences that appear externally projected into physical space. For example, hearing music may cause a person to actually perceive colors floating around them, or letters and numbers may appear inherently colored as though those colors are part of the outside world. In contrast to associator synesthesia, projector synesthesia is more perceptually vivid and sensory-based, with synesthetic experiences functioning more like direct perceptions than internal mental associations.
