Delirium

Delirium sudden, serious disturbance in mental abilities that results in confused thinking and a reduced awareness of surroundings. It typically develops quickly — within hours or a few days — and is usually traced to physical factors like severe illness, infection (such as a UTI), surgery, or an imbalance in the body (like low sodium). It can also be caused by medication reactions or substance withdrawal.
