Visceral Sensory System

The visceral sensory system, part of the nervous system, monitors the body’s internal environment — organs, glands, blood vessels—and sends signals (pain, hunger, etc.) via visceral sensory neurons to the central nervous system (CNS). These signals help the body maintain homeostasis.
