Supplementary Motor Area (SMA)

Supplementary motor area (SMA) in the brain’s frontal cortex helps plan complex movement, especially for opposing limbs involved in sequenced movements (arms in swimming). It’s a control region for speech/language processing, auditory imagery (mental images of speech and music), timing tasks, and perceived duration of visual stimuli. Also see Variable Motor Timing
