Self-Sameness
« Back to Glossary IndexSelf-sameness is a sense of continuity within oneself and in interactions with others based on stable feelings — a condition of being oneself in all situations. German-American psychoanalyst Erik Erikson, an expert in depth psychology and human development, described war veterans as having lost a sense of personal sameness and historical continuity. Erikson developed the concept of identity crisis in clinical settings related to their mental impairment.
