Self-Organization

« Back to Glossary Index

Self-organization is the underlying, dynamic process through which our self-concept develops and adapts over time, often leading to greater clarity and stability. It’s how we create and sustain a certain self-structure (like being compartmentalized vs integrated), but still be actively engaged in managing that structure and its impact on our lives. Incoherent self-organization is where our brain or mind fails to integrate disparate experiences, memories, and emotions into a consistent, logical, or continuous sense of self—the hallmark of a narcissist.
