Self-Actualization

« Back to Glossary Index

Self-actualization is a concept of striving to reach our full potential and fulfil our unique purpose, driven by an innate desire for personal growth and development. Found at the peak of Maslow’s original hierarchy of needs (he later added self-transcendence as the peak attainment), self-actualization is considered hard to reach since most of us have more pressing needs. Maslow didn’t intend his hierarchy to be rigid. Self-actualization be a state of mind to approach problems, form meaningful relationships, and find acceptance and understanding.
