Response Execution
« Back to Glossary IndexResponse execution, a strategy in the status pursuit in narcissism (SPIN) model, is how narcissists behave/act in response to their appraisals of opportunities to increase their status. Narcissists are more likely to engage in self-promotional behaviors that aim to earn admiration, attention, and social influence (admiration pathway) or combative behaviors that aim to devalue social competitors (rivalry pathway), as follows:
- Self-promotion, boasting about accomplishments, showcasing talents, or grabbing attention.
- Other-derogation, belittling or undermining others to elevate their perceived (inflated) status.
