Reflective Therapy
« Back to Glossary IndexReflective therapy is a form of psychotherapy that helps a person notice their own thoughts, feelings, motives, and relational patterns in real time — and reflect on them rather than act them out. The goal is increased self-awareness, emotional regulation, and responsibility for their impact on others, especially in close relationships. Reflective therapy is used for narcissists because it builds their capacity to notice shame, defensiveness, and impact on others without immediately blaming, withdrawing, or attacking. Without this reflective capacity, insight may increase but behavior rarely changes.
