Psychic / psychical apparatus, also called Mental Apparatus, is a Freudian term for the psyche’s mental structures and mechanisms. Freud’s “topographical” model refers to three systems: the Unconscious, the Pre-conscious, and the Conscious. His later structural model described the psychic apparatus of the Id, Ego, and Superego.
