Parts work is often incorporated in therapies, like Internal Family Systems (IFS), which aims to identify and understand the different parts and help them communicate with each other. Instead of “I feel anxious,” say “A part of me feels anxious,” which creates a slight distance from the emotion and allows for more self-awareness. Or “My “perfectionist part” is really critical right now, but I’m trying to listen to the part that wants to do my best.
