Orbitalfrontal Cortex (OFC):

« Back to Glossary Index

Orbitalfrontal cortex (OFC), a brain region in the frontal lobe, helps regulate/integrate emotions into decision-making, link sensory experiences to reward value, and evaluate potential consequences of our choices so we can adapt our behavior to the situation. The OFC’s medial region is associated with positive rewards and its lateral region with negative or punishing stimuli. Also see Prefrontal Cortex and Cerebrum
