Neurotypical (NT):
« Back to Glossary IndexNeurotypical (NT), a term to contrast with neurodivergent (ND) and neuroatypical, refers to individuals of ordinary intellectual/cognitive development and functioning — or those who are not ND. It replaces normal as a descriptor. There’s no normal brain and use of normal implies brains differently wired are abnormal—the idea of medical pathology being made obsolete by the neurodiversity movement. To be NT means to not have or not be associated with having a differently wired brain, as in autism, dyslexia or ADHD. Also see Normal
