Neuroprogression
« Back to Glossary IndexNeuroprogression is a framework that describes how some mental health conditions may change over time as the cumulative effects of stress and repeated episodes alter brain functioning. It doesn’t imply inevitability, but highlights the importance of early support and protection against ongoing strain. In bipolar disorder, neuroprogression has been used to describe patterns in which episodes become more frequent, recovery takes longer, or baseline functioning gradually shifts.
