Neurohormones:

« Back to Glossary Index

Neurohormones, like neurotransmitters, are chemical messenger molecules released by neurons. Like other hormones, they enter and travel in the bloodstream to target sites within the body. Neurohormones act in the central nervous system (CNS) to control appetite, reproduction, emotions, and memory. Some are also involved in aspects of the immune system. Common neurohormones are serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine.
