Mania is at the high end of the bipolar spectrum and includes feelings of being elated and very high energy (euphoric) or possibly more irritable and hypersensitive (dysphoric). Moods can turn quickly, becoming delirious or psychotic. Manic episodes often include extremely impulsive and risky behavior, often without regard or perhaps disregard for the impact of their actions on themselves or anyone else. Manic episodes may include symptoms such as high energy, reduced need for sleep, and loss of touch with reality.
