Implicit Affect Regulation:
« Back to Glossary IndexImplicit affect regulation, in contrast to explicit affect regulation or top-down control, is a way of managing/changing our emotions without consciously trying to do so. Subconscious mechanisms can be triggered by environmental cues or internal states—and influenced by past experiences and associations. It can involve physiological responses like changes (heartrate, breathing patterns) or emotional responses, like feeling happy when seeing a loved one or feeling anxious in a stressful situation without actively thinking about it.
