Hormone Blockers:
« Back to Glossary IndexHormone blockers, also known as puberty suppressors: Hormone blockers are medications to delay puberty by suppressing production of sex hormones (androgens, estrogens). Hormone blockers help transgender youth delay unwanted secondary sex characteristics, giving them time to explore their gender identity. Puberty restarts when medication is stopped, though earlier starts can produce long-term effects on bone growth/density and fertility.
