Hippocampus:

« Back to Glossary Index

The hippocampus, located deep in the brain, is a complex structure that processes learning, spatial reasoning, and new memories for long-term storage. It’s adaptable and vulnerable —and gets damaged by stimuli and affected by neurological and psychiatric disorders, causing memory loss, disorientation, and mood changes. It’s one of Alzheimer’s first functions to falter.
