Glutamate Receptors:
« Back to Glossary IndexGlutamate receptors bind to NMDA receptors found on neuronal and non-neuronal cells in the nervous system. Dysfunction of glutamate receptors has been linked to diseases (Alzheimer’s, migraine headaches) and injury. Chronic stress can lead to malfunctioning of the glutamate system, which can impair learning and memory. Research shows a strong link between glutamate and both ADHD and autism.
