Cognitive Remediation Therapy (CRT)
« Back to Glossary IndexCognitive remediation therapy (CRT) is a specialized, behavior-based treatment designed to exercise and strengthen the brain’s mental processing skills. Unlike traditional talk therapy that focuses on emotions, CRT uses repetitive mental drills — often through computer programs, puzzles, or role-playing — to improve memory, attention, and problem-solving. The goal is to use the brain’s natural ability to rewire itself (neuroplasticity) to help a person function more effectively in their daily life, work, and relationships.
