« Back to Glossary IndexCognitive progress monitoring or cognitive monitoring is the regular assessing and tracking of cognitive abilities and learning progress in individuals with learning disabilities or developmental delays, experiencing cognitive decline due to aging or neurological conditions, or undergoing brain injury rehabilitation. The purpose is to identify areas where further intervention or support might be needed. Examples of monitoring:
- Working memory: Ability to hold information in mind temporarily while performing a task
- Executive function: Planning, organizing, decision-making, and self-regulation
- Visual-spatial skills: Ability to perceive and manipulate visual information in space
- Language processing: Understanding/producing spoken or written language
