Cognitive enhancement is a broadly defined term with different meanings. Learned methods of improving cognitive abilities (attention, memory, learning) advance emotional intelligence (EI). So too can use of pharmacological drugs (modafinil, caffeine, Ritalin, Adderall) or illegal drugs. It can involve behavioral approaches, like non-invasive brain stimulation or brain-machine therapies (biofeedback), or structured group therapy (cognitive enhancement therapy/CET), which takes a holistic, rehabilitation approach.
