Cingulate Cortex
« Back to Glossary IndexThe brain’s cingulate cortex, located on the medial surface (where the two cerebral hemispheres meet), is a key component of the limbic system, which helps in processing emotions, pain perception, decision-making, and cognitive control, particularly in regulating attention, memory, and behavior flexibility. It can be divided into anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) and posterior cingulate cortex (PCC) region, each with slightly different functions.
