Brain Fog
« Back to Glossary IndexBrain fog is a non-clinical term used to describe a cloudy or sluggish mental state where a person struggles to think clearly. In bipolar disorder, it often feels like thinking through molasses or quicksand, manifesting as forgetfulness, difficulty finding the right words, and an inability to focus on tasks. While not a formal medical diagnosis, it is a common subjective experience of cognitive dysfunction that can occur during mood episodes or as a side effect of certain medications.
