Bisexual

« Back to Glossary Index

Bisexual is a sexual orientation that describes people who are attracted to more than one gender, sex, or gender identity in a romantic, sexual, and/or emotional way. Some bisexual people may prefer men, women, or nonbinary people, while others may not have a preference. Some may consider themselves primarily gay or straight, or they may not use any label. Bisexuality can be considered on a nonbinary spectrum, which includes pansexual, queer, gender fluid, omnisexual, and non-monosexual (people who are sexually or romantically attracted to more than one gender). Bisexual people may face prejudice, fear, or hatred, be stereotyped, or be excluded from the LGBTQ community. Also see LGBTQ+ and Bi-Erasure.
