Persistent depressive disorder (PDD)
« Back to Glossary IndexPersistent depressive disorder (PDD), formerly called dysthymia disorder, entails a depressed mood not severe enough to meet major depressive disorder (MDD) criteria. DSM-5 defines PDD as mild-to-moderate and chronic for at least two years in adults and one year in children and adolescents. PDDs can happen to anyone at any age, but are more common in women and in people who have relatives with the same condition.
