Emotional Intelligence (EI):
Emotional Intelligence (EI) was coined by researchers Peter Salavoy and John Mayer in their 1990 article, “Emotional Intelligence,” Imagination, Cognition, and Personality, and popularized by Dan Goleman in his 1995 book Emotional Intelligence. EI can recognize, understand, and manage our own and other’s emotions—when under pressure, giving/getting feedback, dealing with challenging relationships, not having enough resources, navigating change, and working through setbacks. It enhances cognitive abilities, decision-making powers, and interpersonal skills—leading to more successful personal/professional lives.
