Dysgraphia
Dysgraphia is impaired handwriting, which slows writing and learning to spell words in writing. Children with dysgraphia may have only impaired handwriting, only impaired spelling (without reading problems), or both impaired handwriting and impaired spelling. Research shows orthographic coding (ability to create memory of written words linked to pronunciation and meaning) is related to handwriting and is often impaired in dysgraphia. Children may have difficulty planning sequential finger movements (touching thumb to each finger on same hand) without visual feedback. Dysgraphia may occur alone or with dyslexia, other learning disabilities, or ADHD.
