Dyscalculia
Dyscalculia is a learning disorder that affects a child’s ability to understand number-based information and math, because their brains don’t process math-related concepts. It has no connection to intelligence. Many adults, whose dyscalculia was never diagnosed, can experience anxiety, depression, or other difficult feelings when they have to do math. While dyscalculia and dyslexia are different, both conditions are diagnosed as “specific learning disorders,” in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5).
