Dissociative Disorder

Dissociative disorder is a severe form of dissociation when someone leaves normal consciousness, experiences forgetfulness, has memory gaps, forms different identities within their mind, thinks they or the physical world aren’t real—affecting their sense of identity and perception of time. Causes include trauma, sexual/physical assault, childhood abuse, combat, car accidents, natural disasters, or a serious mental health disorder (bipolar disorder, schizophrenia).
