Corticolimbic System
Corticolimbic system is a network of brain regions — the prefrontal cortex/PFC and limbic system (anterior cingulate cortex/ACC, amygdala, and hippocampus) — which process/assign value to sensory information, determining whether something is perceived as pleasant/unpleasant (emotional valence). The corticolimbic system integrates emotion with cognition and produces flexible, adaptable behaviors, based on the environment. This includes decision-making, emotional regulation, mnemonic function, and helps modulate pain and motor control/ programming. Also see Valence
