Conflict Detection

Conflict detection, the first step in conflict processing, prioritizes relevant information (internal/external) and suppressing irrelevant distractions. Detection responses are both intuitive (using mental shortcuts to make biased responses) and logical (using reason based on data/probability, with preference/ability to apply numerical information). Emerging research is determining to what extent we’re aware of making biased responses during a “judgement task”—when we pass judgement on the basis of new information.
