Alexithymia:
Alexithymia, also called emotional blindness, is a personality trait that makes it difficult for people to experience, identify, express, and describe one’s own and others’ emotions. In Greek, the term loosely translates to “no words for emotion.” Alexithymia causes difficulties in attachment, interpersonal relations, and lack of eye contact. Research suggests 50% of autistic people and 1/10 people in the general population have the condition. It can also occur with major depression, schizophrenia, PTSD,stroke, and Alzheimer’s disease.
