Affiliation Motive or Need for Affiliation:

Affiliation motive, or need for affiliation, is a core component of social motivation, is the drive to seek out and maintain — or restore — positive social relationships and a sense of belonging. Those with a strong affiliation motive value friendly relationships with others, characterized by a desire for belonging, approval, and social connection. They actively seek social approval, take satisfaction in group membership, and avoid conflicts that may endanger their social bonds. People with a high affiliation motive may be good team members, but less effective leaders, prioritizing social harmony and relationships over individual goals or tasks. They may be motivated by a desire to fit in and be accepted by their group.
